She is majoring in Software Engineering and minoring in Management. She hope to stay current with the skillset required as a software engineer. Due to that, she applied both knowledge in software development life cycle and system development in her current Final Year Project (FYP). In her FYP project, she is tasked with creating a web portal for Herbarium, USM where she needs to develop a website with general information for public, advanced users and at the same time the website must also able to facilitate the services offered by Herbarium USM. She hopes by completing this portal project, she can harness her skills in preparing to be a computer scientist in the future. Herbarium Portal
Knowledge of the Herbarium is constantly evolving in line with the currents of time. Because of that a portal that can support their growth is imminent and becoming a necessity for an organization. This project aims to develop a web portal for Herbarium@USM to disseminate knowledge related to the herbarium.
Herbarium@USM is a subsidiary of the School of Biological Sciences. It consists of plants-library in which, Herbarium catalogued their plants' information, together with their respective specimens and indexed them so that it is possible to be used as references by the botanist and biologist learners and educators alike. It is also the vision of the Biological Sciences School to establish Herbarium@USM as the Northern Region information hub for Malaysia.
This portal is built as a start off of this vision. With the general public and expert as general users, this portal will provide all information related to all indexed plants in their collection. Herbarium@USM also provides services to prepare the herbarium voucher which refers to the preserved plant specimen, already documented and stored in the Herbarium data storage for the purpose of plant information and species taxonomy references in order to provide suitable data for research, teaching and learning. To facilitate this service, this portal also allows prospective and current client to keep track of their submitted specimen for herbarium voucher preparations to ease the process of communication between the client and the herbarium staff.
In brief, Herbarium Portal will provide a platform that provides support to the staff to enhance and maintain their service and becoming a one-stop reference centre that supports the programme and effort related to plant research in Malaysia.
