CEED: Ceramic Education for Disability (Speech and Hearing Impaired)
This past year our world has been hit with something that we never expected and our lifestyle changes drastically. We currently cannot rely on classroom training as for today the pandemic case increases at an alarming rate and we need to live with new normal. The training for disable students is a big challenge at the current moment because of the social distancing in the classroom as well as having difficulty having certified trainers to teach in the classroom and interact with the students due to the strict order by the school management to have no outsiders or visitors.
Video training is also ineffective due to no interaction between the teacher and students. This problem makes teaching arts related subjects especially on the topic of making ceramics to be a real challenge for teachers. Disable students will face difficulty in relying on text instruction when learning in the classroom. Therefore, this web application is developed to help teachers to train speech and hearing impaired students with the training process of ceramic production.
The project consists of a web based mobile application containing the contents of the modules of ceramic making course that is accessible to any mobile platform. This program uses augmented reality to enhance the ceramic making process by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) through web browser and a physical book is supplied containing pictures, texts and shapes to activate the 3D animation viewed through AR.The main benefit of this project is to help the teachers and students to learn the ceramic production without the need of a face-to-face class session by the certified trainer. The main significance of this project is to provide self learning for any students and both speech and hearing impaired are included to take advantage of the visually immersive experience of learning.
