SMART MEDICINE LABEL SCANNING AND PILL MONITORING
With the advancement of technology in medication in this era, early detection of chronic illness is possible before it becomes more serious. This is to prevent the illness from getting worse and to prolong the survival. Treatments are usually used to avoid the illness from being worsen. One of the treatments is by taking medicines prescribed by healthcare professionals. My project will develop an Android application to help notify users of their medicine regimen.
One of the objectives of this project is to implement a medicine label scanner that uses OCR to recognize the text on the medicine and convert it into digital text. This application will allow users directly scan the medicine prescription label to extract information. After scanning, the text will be recognized using OCR and will be converted into digital text.
The next objective of this project is to build a natural language processing engine that can recognize medicine-related text entities. The recognized text is assigned to its own keys and values and then store in the database. In addition, another objective of this project is to generate medicine consumption schedules and reminders that can help user to keep track of their medicine regimen.
The outcomes of this project are a mobile application that can manage medicine records and generate medical consumption schedules as well as reminders, a text recognition scanner that uses OCR to recognize medicine prescription label and convert it into digital form, and an NLP engine that can perform text matching to recognize entities and values from the medicine information.
