Nurul Shahida binti Sahidi grew up in Kedah and currently she is a final year student of Computer Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia. She is majoring in Information System Engineering while minoring in Management. She had done her internship as a web developer trainee at Casbay Sdn Bhd. She is a person who enjoys learning new things and proves to herself that she could achieve her goal. She consistently challenging herself and pushing it to the limit. She is who has a big dream and always try to reach big achievement. With the knowledge she has gained through her university studies and the experience she has gained through her internship; she is trying to achieve the best possible results for this FYP project.

Visualization of Bone images and 3D Bone models (ViBi3DB)

These days, the visualization of 3D models plays an important role in many areas, one of it is being medical imaging. This is because when the surgeons or medical doctors want to use the analysis of bone structure, they can use the 3D models which have high resolution that can provide accurate visual information and clarity rather than using 2D CT scan images only.

Thus, the objectives of this project are to view the 3D models together with its respective slices of the CT scan images for the surgeons or medical doctors in a mobile platform and to view the G-code (Geometric Code) file of the models. The mobile apps for the ViBi3DB: Visualisation of Bone images and 3D Bone models, is proposed. This proposed mobile apps will help to improve the surgeons or medical doctors' quality and efficiency in doing analysis and diagnose process for their patient. This mobile application is expected to have the visualization of 3D models that able to view, rotate, zoom in/out the 3D objects and able to view the G-code file that allow the models to be a printable model. This project has one module which are mobile application module. The type of user for this mobile application module are surgeons or medical doctors. The submodules within the mobile application are handle the import the models from storage, view the 3D models with the CT scan images, then user can rotate and zoom the 3D models also able to view the G-code file.

The goal of this project is to provide the 3D and 2D views of bone defect model that helps medical doctors and surgeons to explain accurate diagnosis of their patients who suffers from bone defect disease such as cancerous bone or osteoporosis. The outcome of this project is an affordable tool which could analyse a bone defect structure on a mobile application such as a tablet.
