A wide range of options offered by the supermarket such as home and lifestyle, electronics accessories, health and beauty, sports and travel, and food and beverages have induced a lot of consumers to go to the supermarket. Most of the customers eventually will buy the products in large quantity to keep as stocks in their home. Thus, these people are probable to use the shopping cart for carrying the items that they desire. Despite the situation, it also caused some of the customers to accidentally lost their shopping cart or may mistake with another trolley during the shopping time. It may affect the customers' emotions and shopping experience as they need to search their shopping cart around the supermarket.

Hence, this project proposes an autonomous shopping cart that can follow the owner around the supermarket. A prototype will be implemented by using a mobile robot known as AlphaBot2 with Raspberry Pi 3 for image processing. Besides, a specific pattern with colour will be included for the mobile robot to recognize the consumer. Hence, each shopper will have a shopping cart that follows around them during shopping. The autonomy of the shopping cart alleviates the customer from losing the shopping cart while shopping problem.
