GLUEMO: GLucose Wearable Monitoring and Medicine Box

The project name is Glucose Wearable Monitoring and Medicine Box (GLUEMO), a system that can be a better option for monitoring diabetes disease. Diabetes is a major public health concern in Malaysia, the prevalence rate of these diseases keeps increasing. Diabetic management is important to improve the patients quality of life. Thus, the patient needs to do home monitoring and take their medicine on time. Over time, uncontrolled high blood sugar levels can lead to serious complications which are eye diseases such as glaucoma, kidney disease, and foot ulcers that can result in amputation. There are several methods in measuring glucose available, but those methods are inconvenient to the patient due to costly devices, inaccurate glucose level reading, invasive, and painful. Thus, the idea in this project is to design an Internet of Things (IoT) of diabetic kit that consist a wearable device and medicine box for monitoring diabetic patients medicine taking and wellbeing. A wearable glucose monitoring device and smart medicine box will be implemented using low-cost sensors. It will help to avoid complications as the system will remind the user to take their medicine on schedule and monitor the glucose level. This project can improve the quality of life for diabetes patients by providing a better option in managing their disease.
