Social media such as Facebook are the main source of information for most people in these years. Nevertheless, information from social media is not always correct and sometimes it misleads the audience. Such information is called disinformation and could be harmful depending on the intent of the information. FAKEDETECT is an application invented to help combat this problem and solve the dilemma of obtaining the latest information from social media at the same time worrying that they might be fake. When detecting disinformation from social media, wise allocation of system resources is important because the system resources are limited compared to a huge amount of information is constantly fed to the social media. Therefore, FAKEDETECT assesses the risk of Facebook posts by using the DREAD model before utilizing the system resources to detect them. If a post is found to have a medium to high potential to impose negative impacts on the user, then only the system will start analyzing it. Apart from the detection engine which comprises linguistics checking and source analysis components, FAKEDETECT takes into account the inputs from the user to detect a post. With the use of this application, the circulation of disinformation on Facebook is expected to be remarkably reduced.
