Visual Language Learning: Mari Belajar BM

GM005

Due to the exposure to advancement of technology and mobile devices, conventional language learning may become a challenge for learners nowadays. The conservative approach require a sufficiently long attention span and may consider dull and uninteresting with the advancement of technology that we have. Thus this project, Visual Language Learning: Mari Belajar BM is proposed as an educational game for language learners comprising of multi-level beginners to enhance their language learning experience via Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). Utilizing the principle of game design, Visual Language Learning: Mari Belajar BM aims to provide personalized, individual, out-of-classroom learning for Malay language learners. It is also believed that learning through play can be more effective and impactful than traditional methodologies especially for a beginner to pick up a language. Visual Language Learning: Mari Belajar BM uses bricks and connectors of different colours and shapes to form a sentence and the learner can indirectly form grammatically correct sentences. The question bank consists of 480 words construction and sentence composition. It provides a smooth learning curve for the learner to become sufficiently proficient of the language as the difficulty of the words and sentences increases gradually with level progression. This project is designed ideally for pre-schoolers to lower primary school (Kindergarden to Standard 3) while it can be played by other age groups as well to learn Malay language. Visual Language Learning: Mari Belajar BM is developed using Unity software and written in C# (C Sharp) programming language.
